Collaboration in the Preparation of the Book “Corn Silage: From Seed to Feed”

Sarshar Group is proud to announce its valuable contribution to the preparation of the book “Corn Silage: From Seed to Feed,” authored by Dr. Jorff Lawrence. This work was completed with the collaboration of three professionals from the livestock and poultry industry in the translation process, resulting in a comprehensive guide to the cultivation, planting, harvesting of forage corn, and the production and optimization of corn silage.

This book thoroughly examines the ensiling process, the factors affecting silage quality, and methods for reducing silage losses. By presenting scientific principles, practical experiences, and operational guidelines, it enables farmers and livestock industry professionals to improve both the efficiency and nutritional value of silage.

The book provides an in-depth analysis of the ensiling process, including the biochemical and microbial mechanisms involved. It highlights the role of beneficial bacteria, oxygen reduction, and temperature control in achieving stable fermentation and preserving nutrients.

It also offers practical, evidence-based approaches to minimizing dry matter loss, preventing excessive heating in silos, controlling mold growth, and reducing the loss of vitamins and nutrients during storage and feeding. Furthermore, it addresses quality monitoring and control, offering practical methods for evaluating silage quality at the farm level.

Special attention is given to key factors influencing silage quality, such as optimal moisture content, particle size, compaction, and microbial inoculants that help preserve nutritional value.

Sarshar Group, committed to promoting applied knowledge and modern technologies in animal health and nutrition efficiency, considers the development and transfer of such knowledge to stakeholders as part of its mission. In line with this mission, the group has introduced the product Silotone to the market to enhance silage efficiency, reduce losses, and improve both quality and economic performance at the farm level.

Features and Benefits of Silotone:

  • Rapid improvement of fermentation quality and reduction of pH and temperature in the initial hours after silo sealing
  • Preservation of nutritional value and true protein in silage
  • Easy application and suitability for use in production units and farms

As a research and industrial organization, Sarshar Group continues to expand the dissemination of technical knowledge related to silage and is actively pursuing experimental projects and field studies to provide more practical solutions. Additional books and research articles by the group will be published in the future to serve the livestock and veterinary community.
