SILOTONE, as the first knowledge-based product of the Research and Development Unit of Sarshar Zist Pharmed Company, is ready to be offered to the country’s livestock industry.

SILOTONE is the result of investigation and formulation by Sarshar Zist Pharmed’s R&D department, as well as the implementation of a joint research project with the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Tehran.

The aim of this research was to determine the effect of the dry matter and silage additives on the quality, fermentation indices and nutritional value of corn silage with different dry matter and starch contents and to compare these products with the imported sample (Ecosyl® Silage Additive) under laboratory conditions. In this study, a 4×4 completely randomized factorial experiment with eight replications in each ration was used to evaluate 16 experimental rations: The first factor: the type of silage microbial inoculant additive, The second factor: Corn dry matter content.

Statistically, all inoculant additives were able to significantly reduce the temperature in the silages compared to the control group, which indicates a reduction in the aerobic phase time in the silages and can be used as an indicator benefit of the use of inoculant additives in the short term. The effect of inoculant additives on dry matter percentage of bagged silages, colour, aroma or odour and the surface mould of bagged silages, percentage of ash, crude protein and ADF were significant. Improvement of microbial fermentation, microbial protein synthesis and reduction of proteolytic activity of feed corn in silages can be the main reason for improving the protein content of silages treated with inoculant additives. The effect of the second main factor, i.e. the dry matter percentage of corn, on the DM percentage of silages is statistically significant.

Economic impact of use for SILOTONE

  • Because of the unique benefits of silage and the fact that it accounts for up to 50% of the dairy cow ration, it has always been necessary to pay attention to the use of additives from an economic point of view. About 17 million tonnes of fodder corn are grown in our country annually, assuming that the amount of waste and corruption from the time of harvesting to the time of feeding in the manger is 25%; with the current prices in the Iranian market, a significant amount of hidden loss is inflicted on livestock breeders.
  • In the SILOTONE product, the effective count of silage inoculant has been guaranteed through numerous checks
  • Using SILOTONE adds very slightly to the price of each kilogram of corn (Less than three-tenths the price of silage corn) but in return, it gives the grower many benefits and hidden profits by eliminating dry matter loss and hidden losses: Significantly reduces mycotoxins, improves Gut health, animal health and milk production.
  • Finally, the relative advantage of using SILOTONE is that instead of opening the silo after the usual 60 days, quality silage can be fed to animals less than 20 days after filling the silo.
  • Other benefits of SILOTONE include a significant reduction in mycotoxins, an improvement in the health of the Gastro-intestinal tract, an improvement in animal health and milk production.
